Last Mountain House Provincial Historic Park
Last Mountain House Provincial Historic Park is
built on the site of a fur -trading post constructed
in 1869. The post burned down in the early 1870s, and
remained untouched for almost 100 years. The Regina
Archaeological Society spent 5 summers at the site collecting
artifacts and information about the post.
Now, several buildings on the site re-create and interpret
life on the post: the Men's House, the Master's House,
the Barn Warehouse (program centre), the Trade Store,
the Ice House. One of the highlights at the post is
a copy of a journal kept by the Master of the post,
Isaac Cowie.
The park is open July 1st to Labour Day, Thursday through
Sunday.
For more information on Last Mountain House and other
provincial historic parks go to http://www.serm.gov.sk.ca
