Organized Sports

All kinds of opportunities to play sports are available in Lumsden. Whatever the season, and whatever your age, there are sports in which you can participate.

Badminton

The Lumsden Badminton Club meets on Sunday evenings at the Lumsden High School gym from 6:30-9:30 pm. Youth and adults are welcome.

Cross Country Skiing

Cross country skiing is available throughout the winter months. Grooming is dependent upon snow conditions.

Hockey

There are several recreational (non-contact) hockey teams in Lumsden, including a women's team.

The senior hockey team playing out of Lumsden is the Lumsden Monarchs. The Monarchs play in the Highway Hockey League.

The Lumsden Minor Hockey Association runs teams from Squirt through to Midget.

All Lumsden hockey games take place at the Lumsden Sports Centre which is open from late September to early April.

Figure Skating

The Lumsden Figure Skating Club
The Lumsden Figure Skating Club runs several programs for beginning skaters and figure skaters:

Canskate:
(a program of Skate Canada) for 4 & 5 year olds teaches a basic introduction to skating.

Junior and Senior:
As skaters pass Canskate, they can go on to higher levels of figure skating instruction. Progression through the levels is based on passing certain criteria, not on age.

Lessons for all levels take place at the Lumsden Sports Centre on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (4:00 pm - 7:45 pm). Private lessons are scheduled for Sundays.

Annual events for the Figure Skating Club: Synchronized Skating Competition (March), Annual Ice Show (last Sunday in March).

Soccer

Indoor Soccer
Registration takes place in September for indoor soccer. There are several Lumsden teams, Under 8, Under 10, Under14 and Under 16. Our teams are part of the Regina North Zone Soccer League. There is a game every weekend and games alternate between Regina and Lumsden. There is a practice every Thursday. Home games and practices take place at the Lumsden Elementary School gym.

Shin pads and indoor (non-marking) gym shoes are required. Balls are provided. The indoor soccer league runs from October to March.

Outdoor Soccer
9 and Under
Registration for the 9 & Under outdoor soccer league is in March with the soccer season running for the months of May & June. Teams are divided up so that 5- and 6-year -olds play together, and 7-,8- and 9-year-olds play together. Games take place at the Lumsden Elementary School soccer field or the Participark soccer field (occasionally games are played at the South Shore School soccer field in Regina Beach). Shin pads and balls are required, team t-shirts are provided.

10 and Up
Registration for the 10 & Up soccer league takes place in March with the soccer season running from late April (weather permitting) to late June. Children at this age group are part of the Regina North Zone Soccer League. Teams are formed based on the numbers enrolled, usually Under 12, Under 14, Under 16. Games take place once or twice a week and alternate between Lumsden (elementary school field) and Regina. Shin pads are required, team t-shirts are provided.
