Playground Safety

Webster, the Playground Safety Duck

The Lumsden/Regina Beach Playground Safety Committee was formed in the spring of 1998 with the goal of helping to educate young children about the importance of playing safely at the playground. With the support of local service groups, SGI and the Regina Health District, the committee has developed a colouring book, a full-sized Webster mascot and Webster t-shirts.

Webster’s Playground Safety Colouring Book

Includes 6 scenes of children playing safely on various playground structures. Also included is a 2-page spread showing unsafe playground equipment and activities. The children are asked to pick out what is unsafe in the picture. A message to parents at the back of the book lists what to look for to ensure that your playground is safe. Colouring books sell for $1.00 (no PST).

Webster T-Shirts:
sell for $10.00 each (no PST). They are short-sleeved, light grey with black lettering, 50/50 cotton/poly blend, and come in children’s sizes 6-8,10-12, 14-16 and adult sizes S, M, L and XL. There is a picture of Webster on the front.

Our full-sized Webster Mascot:
is available to attend events to publicize playground safety. We charge a small fee to cover wear and tear on the costume. We also ask that you cover mileage, meals and accommodation (if necessary) for the person who brings Webster to your event. Please contact the Lumsden/Regina Beach Playground Safety Committee for further details on having Webster visit your community.
